How do you live?
Hi everyone! First, I want to say thank you for subscribing to Enter the Liquefold! I’m getting close to 50 subscribers, and I don’t even know some of you :0. And if you’re a first time reader, you should:
This week I visited my family in St. Louis. It was great to spend the last part of Chanukkah with everyone! I meant to do lots of drawing… and playtest car-2-dle… and neither of those things happened… But that’s okay! I had also planned to do a big 2-page spread called “In My Parents’ House” that will have to wait until next time, but the above is kind of in lieu of that. Here are my references.

What I did end up making was this sheet of prints with my sibling. I had never really done printmaking before, but I think it has a lot of promise for “mass producing” (for someone like me) runs of posters or comics. I’m going to have to invest a little bit in supplies, but it’s definitely something I’m going to pursue in the future. If you want to see a study of one of my favorite woodblock printers, you can check out last week’s newsletter.
My Dad gave me his old point and shoot, a Panasonic DMC-ZS7. I really like its aesthetic. Here’s a fun picture of the inside of our apartment.
One of the things I didn’t expect when moving to Southern California was that all of the plants, and I mean pretty much all of them, would be completely different than what you find in Missouri. This really threw me off at first, and I’m still fascinated by all the flora I’ve basically never seen before. Here are some fun shots from the park down the street—see if you can spot the really weird candy-cane-looking cactus.
And of course, right next to the park is the beach. But first you have to cross the street.
Then, go down the hill.
Watch out for this guy.
And you’re there! Wow. I could get used to this.
I was really impressed by the capabilities of this little thing. I even got some shots of the terns!
Okay beach, see you tomorrow!
